Anyone gonna watch them January?

MANILA, Philippines―The multi-platinum selling American rock band My Chemical Romance is performing on Jan. 25, 2008 at the Fort Bonifacio Open Field, Taguig.

Formed shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, MCR is currently composed of singer Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way, guitarists Frank Iero and Ray Toro, and drummer Bob Bryar.

The band recorded its indie-label debut album in 2002 before being signed to Reprise Records, which released its “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” album in 2004.

It sold more than one million copies.

Dangerous

The success was replicated with 2006’s “The Black Parade,” the album that established MCR as a world-famous group whose music has been the subject of debate among fans and the media.

Band members have rejected the term “emo” to describe their sound, preferring to call it simply as rock or, as their website says, “violent, dangerous pop.” They cite Queen, Thursday, Iron Maiden, The Misfits, Morrissey/The Smiths and the Beastie Boys as their main influences.

The MCR gig in Manila is being promoted by Viva Concerts. Call 687-6181 loc. 620 and 745.
